Attentif aux mutations aiguës des villes contemporaines, Laboratoire compose des œuvres transversales sollicitant en réseau des artistes des cinq continents, écrivains ou plasticiens, dans des processus par lesquels chacun échange et confronte avec les habitants du site son expérience singulière du monde. Ainsi à São Paulo, Alger, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro ou Abidjan, et dans des contextes urbains particulièrement ébranlés, comme le sont Sarajevo, Tchernobyl ou Grozny. Créé à l’initiative de deux plasticiens, Maryvonne Arnaud et Philippe Mouillon, Laboratoire est aujourd'hui d'échelle sans cesse variable selon la complexité et le nombre de réalisations en cours. Plasticiens, écrivains, géographes, urbanistes, philosophes, sociologues ou compositeurs, plus de cinq cents artistes et chercheurs originaires du monde entier ont ainsi été associés au fil du temps, pour une complicité de quelques heures, de plusieurs années ou volontairement sans date d’achèvement ! Ainsi les écrivains Ahmadou Kourouma, Patrick Chamoiseau ou Jacques Lacarrière, les plasticiens Rekha Rodwittiya, William Kentridge, Ester Grinspum, Rachid Koraichi ou Alfredo Jaar. Either writers or artists, they exchange and collate with the inhabitants of the site their own singular experiment of the World. For instance in Rio de Janeiro, Johannesburg, Sao Paulo, Abidjan, Algiers... but also in urban contexts particularly shattered, such as Sarajevo, Tchernobyl or Grosny. Initiated by two artists, Maryvonne Arnaud and Philippe Mouillon, Laboratoire is today a changeable-scale association, depending on the number and the complexity of the undertaken events. Artists, writers, geographers, town planners, philosophers, sociologists or music composers… more than five hundred artists and researchers from the whole world have been associated as time went by, for a few hours, several years or deliberately for a process without any deadline!
